"In daily practice, I experience the truth of my body, breath, and heart-mind. I notice the ups and downs, the twists and turns, the constant change. Sometimes it’s difficult, especially when dealing with injuries or challenging times. But injuries and other challenges make great teachers. Mine have taught me how to heal myself, as well as how to connect with and help others dealing with similar experiences. Daily yoga practice opens me up to compassion, joy, and pure awe at the delicate resilience of being human."

YOGA
Simona has over 4000 hours of yoga teaching experience, weaving in various styles, including Power Vinyasa, Iyengar, Restorative, Therapeutic Yoga, and Kum Nye (Tibetan yoga). Her classes emphasize safe alignment, balance muscular strength and flexibility to prevent or heal from injuries, and offer unique mind-body insights from aikido, a Japanese martial art of conflict resolution. YOGA THERAPY
While yoga is inherently a healing art, not all yoga practices are appropriate for everyone at all times. Therapeutic yoga promotes deep relaxation, gently strengthens the body, and stretches muscles and fascia.
PRIVATE SESSIONS
In private yoga therapy sessions, we explore together your body's unique predispositions, imbalances, injuries, or health conditions, and tailor a home practice specifically for you. GROUP SESSIONS In group therapeutic yoga classes, we explore the mind-body-breath connection through series of movements that build both strength and flexibility. The focus is on the breath and on developing body awareness. The practice can be challenging, but the modifications offered make it accessible to everyone. YOGA STRENGTH!
Yogalates
Yoga together with Pilates - the best of both! Simona's yogalates classes are fun and challenging, drawing from her therapeutic yoga experience and passion for movement. Going beyond the six pack, this class builds deep core strength for improved athletic performance, injury prevention, healthy aging, and overall well-being. Yoga for Martial Artists Simona has experience developing yoga practices that support martial artists and athletes in their physical activities, by correcting musculoskeletal imbalances and increasing strength and flexibility where needed. She offers a Yoga for Martial Artists class on Sunday mornings at her Aikido dojo in Emeryville, where she currently holds the rank of 1st degree black belt. PRENATAL YOGA
Practicing yoga during pregnancy is a wonderful way to bond with your baby, relieve discomforts, and prepare emotionally and physically for birth and motherhood. Our society has turned pregnancy and childbirth into medical conditions that must be “fixed” with drugs and surgical procedures. Prenatal yoga empowers mothers to listen to their bodies, tapping into their own wisdom and power.
Our bodies experience many amazing changes during pregnancy. For instance, joints become hypermobile and muscles hypertonic. This means that your muscles may feel tighter, but your joints are more flexible, thus stretching must be done with care and in moderation to avoid injuries. Prenatal yoga practice is specifically tailored to the body's needs during pregnancy.
After birth, post-natal or mommy and baby yoga classes provide a space to replenish your strength, relax, deepen the connection with your baby, and have fun
